The exhibition "Hands Create History" invites you to look back at the past when the Vranov nad Dyjí Castle was transformed by the hands of craftsmen and conservators. In historical photographs, you will see scaffolding, bricks, mortar, and stucco that together formed new shapes of the historical complex, while also capturing the human dimension of the reconstruction – the patient work, care, and artistry of the masters who restored the castle's beauty. The photographs represent the 1970s, when the reconstruction was carried out in the spirit of the then-contemporary conservation philosophy and technologies. It is not just about repairing building materials – it captures moments when history and the present meet, when the hands of craftsmen write a new story for the old walls. Visitors will see authentic shots of work on stucco, roofs, bridges, and interiors, while also gaining an understanding of the complexity and challenges of the reconstruction processes of that time. The exhibition connects historical documentation with a visual story that shows not only the object itself but also the people who participated in its restoration. Each photograph is a testament to the effort, creativity, and care that lies behind every restored stone and brick. It will bring you closer to how hands – literally – create history, and how the work of individuals becomes part of the collective memory of the place. The exhibition will take place in the exhibition spaces in the first courtyard of the castle and will be open in accordance with the opening hours of the castle complex: in the months of April, May, September, and October. Visitors thus have the opportunity to combine the tour of the photographs with an individual tour of the castle complex and tower, gaining a comprehensive view of the history and present of this place. We invite you to explore not only the castle itself but also its "second life" captured by the lens – where hands create history and photographs preserve moments that would otherwise remain hidden.
