Through original compositions for piano, voice, and looper, this work offers a journey into the ancient strata of time. It pays homage to the voices that have traversed memories and territories. The voice singing in patois acts as a breath of transmission and creates a ritual space where past and present resonate with one another. Inspired by the natural elements of Valais (rocks, cliffs, torrents), this musical creation draws its inspiration from folk tales, forgotten voices, and the landscapes that shape our imaginations. The “èsprik” of the mountains, emblematic figures of Alpine folklore, thus become elements of a contemporary musical composition where past and present are in constant dialogue. Poems translated into the Valais dialect revive a living memory. A treasure trove of linguistic and cultural richness, this language becomes a source of sound as much as it is of poetry. Words flow from one voice to another, from one time to another, giving voice to what remains when memories seem to fade. Conceived as an immersive experience, èsprik envelops the audience in a sensitive and organic listening space. The stage design, spatialization techniques, and soundscapes combine to create an environment where the music evokes the forces of nature and the voices that have traversed these lands. For this production, Emilie is collaborating for the first time with her sister Charlotte, a sound engineer and musician, who is responsible for the arrangements and sound design of the work. “èsprik” is thus structured as a two-voice composition, in which the musical composition and the spatial arrangement of sound constantly respond to and intertwine with one another.
