Food is more than just nourishment: it shapes identity, tradition, and social coexistence, and at the same time reflects societal developments. The special exhibition "En Guete! Facets of Our Food Culture" invites you to experience regional food culture as a living part of our everyday history and lived everyday culture – sensually, participatively, and across generations. From the historical roots of our food culture to current trends, the exhibition spans a wide arc. Contemporary and historical objects reflect the many facets of our food culture: from prehistoric vessels to medieval copper cauldrons, the smallest cookbook in the world to the smart cooking pot. Classic Swiss products, cookbooks, recipes, and everyday objects make visible how cooking, eating, and living together have changed. Historical photographs and postcards, video interviews, and contemporary artworks open up further perspectives on Swiss food culture. The exhibition deliberately focuses on participation and sensory experience. At interactive stations, visitors can reflect on their eating habits, share favorite dishes and stories, or test their sense of smell. Of course, there is also something to nibble on! A special highlight is the AI-supported still life station: inspired by historical and contemporary models, visitors create their own still life and creatively engage with the question of what is typical for our food culture today. Art, technology, and food culture come together here in an entertaining way.
