An exceptional Czech-British meeting of Moravian folklore and jazz music. Jazz pianist and composer Emil Viklický has teamed up with British singer Imogen Ryall in the project Songs, whose unique voice and sensitive handling of lyrics give his compositions a new dimension. Viklický's melodic style, influenced by jazz and Moravian musical tradition, meets Imogen Ryall's English lyrics here. The result is chamber, lyrical, and freely improvising jazz, where strong melody, words, and musical dialogue hold equal weight. A prominent figure in the ensemble is British saxophonist Julian Nicholas, who also contributed as a producer.
