The shy Elling and his good-natured buddy Kai-Ove are finally supposed to learn to stand on their own two feet. Therefore, after their discharge from a clinic, they are assigned a shared apartment. But is "real life" really a good exchange for Elling's flourishing imagination? And how are you supposed to cope with the pitfalls of everyday life when you're battling a whole mountain of neuroses? Luckily, there is Frank, a social worker, who supports the two with advice and action. And quite unexpectedly, Kai-Ove also falls into the big love – quite literally.
