An experience like in the old days: aboard the CAP SAN DIEGO, we set sail once again and head "towards Rio." Even the departure is a special highlight: passing the lively St. Pauli Landungsbrücken and the impressive docks of Blohm+Voss, we get a view of the Elbe with its unmistakable maritime and urban flair. After the Elbe beaches of Övelgönne and passing Teufelsbrück, the ship sails along the green Elbe slopes of Blankenese. Before the historic ship greeting station Willkomm-Höft, a traditional moment follows: we dip the flag and are ceremoniously farewell with the national anthem, just like the great ships of the past on their journey to distant lands. The further downstream we go, the wider the river becomes. We pass protected shoreline landscapes, see the locks of the Kiel Canal on starboard, and finally reach the open waterway towards Cuxhaven. Outward bound, towards the sun and with Rio in our hearts. This cruise is much more than a ship journey: it is a piece of living maritime history to experience. Experience ship technology live:
Throughout the entire journey, the Cap San Diego can be visited at all stations, and every maneuver can be experienced up close in the engine room and on the bridge. Our volunteer crew is available for all questions and always up for a maritime chat. A very special experience awaits you in the impressive engine room: during the voyage, you can see the fascinating technology in operation live. The CAP SAN DIEGO is unique worldwide: nowhere else is there a larger, still operational museum ship of this class from the era of breakbulk cargo ships.
