EKR & Friends Album Release Party for "Schatzcharte"

Description

“The music industry sells playlists. EKR provides direction.” With “Schatzcharte,” EKR releases a classic boom-bap album with an attitude. Dusty drums, warm samples, and precise lyrics tackle the questions of our time: algorithms and everyday life, streaming and the search for meaning, dopamine and constant noise. The album was co-produced and mixed by KWEST and features ten tracks that don’t preach morality but rather offer food for thought. EKR has been one of the defining figures of the Swiss hip-hop scene since the early days of the local hip-hop culture in the 1980s. As a rapper, breakdancer, DJ, producer, graphic designer, and songwriter, he has helped shape the culture over four decades. Throughout, he has remained true to his own compass and continuously refined his unmistakable style—with a keen sense of language, attitude, and flow. On “Schatzcharte,” EKR marches right through the noise of the present. The album asks what remains when you put your cell phone aside and start thinking for yourself. Musically, “Schatzcharte” is firmly rooted in the boom-bap tradition, without getting stuck in nostalgia. The treasure isn’t at the end of the album—it begins where you start digging for it yourself.
