Anna Trauffer and Lara Stanic – Concept, Composition, Direction The Zurich-based Ensemble Tzara has been active in the field of contemporary music culture for about 20 years. Its programs focus on diverse approaches to contemporary music and performance. With this new program, Zurich composer and bassist Anna Trauffer has written nine pieces in the form of songs tailored for singer Irina Ungureanu and the five-member ensemble. These songs tell profound and humorous stories of festivity, contemplation, abundance, but also of melancholy and oversaturation around Christmas. The songs incorporate five sophisticated, playful electronic pieces by Zurich-based composer and sound artist Lara Stanic. These are joyfully interpreted by the musicians in combination with electronic sensors and effects. The singer lends her voice to the Christmas tree, the scent of cookies is transformed into sounds, and a singing teapot plays a duet with the trumpet.
The concert hall is filled for an hour with warm tones and lush harmonies. Sometimes deeply sad, sometimes beautifully kitschy, breathtakingly exuberant or softly plucked.
