Description

In 2026, the Bernese troubadour Bernhard Stirnemann would have turned 90 years old. "Bene" – as he was known – is considered alongside Mani Matter as a founder of Bernese chanson. Like Matter, he was inspired by the French chanson. In the 1960s, both helped bring Bernese chanson to its current popularity. Bernhard Stirnemann – a teacher by profession – was more than just the cheeky Bernese troubadour many know him as. He led his own small theater and significantly shaped the scene for years. As a cultural politician, he was active in the Bern city council and the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern. In autumn 2026, the biography "Bene – E fräche Siech" by historian Beat Hodler will be published by Zytglogge-Verlag. At the same time, the tribute program "Mys Käthi schmöckt nach Schoggola" will start. Comedienne Lisa Catena and Bernese chansonnier Rolf Marti honor Bernhard Stirnemann with a mix of readings and songs – including pieces for which there are no recordings. Prices
