"Du bist schön" Works by Nikolaus Brass and Leonhard Lechner

Description

You are beautiful
Works by Nikolaus Brass and Leonhard Lechner
For his second major project, the ensemble ipsa presents some works by the contemporary composer Nikolaus Brass alongside the setting of the Song of Songs by Leonhard Lechner. Born in 1949 in Lindau/Bodensee, Nikolaus Brass is one of the most interesting living composers, especially in terms of vocal music. At the same time, the music of Lechner, a student of Lasso, which lies at the border between late Renaissance and Baroque, is particularly close to the ensemble ipsa. Thus, historical and contemporary music meet in the confrontation with each other, shaded between the exalted perception of beauty in Solomon and the component of violence in the encounter with the beloved in Erlkönig.
Program: Nikolaus Brass
"Lingua" "Isaiah 58:9–12" "Erlkönig" "Dream Speech" Leonhard Lechner "The First and Second Chapters of the Song of Solomon"
