Description
In this unique course, participants delve deeply into the world of traditional bellsmithing. Together, they explore the various possibilities of creating three different bell shapes. Under expert guidance, they forge their own bells and learn about different techniques and methods. After the forging phase, the fascinating technique of fire gilding takes center stage: a traditional craft where the bell is coated with brass through clay packing and firing at over 1000 degrees. This process not only creates an aesthetically pleasing effect but also a layer that significantly influences the sound. In the final experiment, participants let their handcrafted bells ring out and explore the subtle differences in sound – a highlight where craftsmanship and acoustics harmoniously merge. Led by: René Soller Prerequisite: This course is aimed at individuals with prior knowledge of forging.
