Description

The first novel by poet Martina Caluori takes us to an almost abandoned campsite somewhere by the sea: The old lady carries the silent memory of past generations; Phine struggles with the death of his mother; Bo fights with the legacy of a repressive faith. Jochen, in turn, was abandoned by his wife and children, S. and Vira find a voice for the fractures caused by wars and conflicts. Between pines (Pinus) and surf, a web of relationships and memories unfolds at the campsite, told not linearly but in fragmented streams.
Caluori's novel, in which narrative passages are cleverly mixed with lyrical and multilingual inserts, breaks through traditional storytelling structures and reflects the complex interplay of past, present, and future.

Between a declaration of love and an assessment, farewells to the mother attempt to grasp the unfathomable. Schmid chooses the form of an meticulous diary as well as flashbacks to significant moments between his mother and himself.
