Description

Based on the novel by Morton Rhue, this play by Jochen Strauch explores how a movement can form and spiral out of control. In history class, a teacher starts an experiment with clear rules, shared symbols, discipline, and a strong sense of unity. This creates a movement in the class: The Wave. What initially sounds like community and a harmless project quickly gets out of hand. Those who belong feel strong. Those who don't are excluded. Peer pressure grows—and suddenly, an uncomfortable question arises: How far would you go to belong? #dieWelle re-tells a classic school reading in a direct, fast, and contemporary way. It shows how easily people can be swept up by simple answers, fear, and the desire for belonging. And it poses a question that might be more urgent today than ever: Which side are you on?
