Description

Chief conductor Roberto González-Monjas invites you to the fourth and final lunch concert of the season. It is also the first of four concerts with which the Spaniard bids farewell to his post in Winterthur. He appears in a dual role: in addition to conducting, he also takes the solo part in Antonio Vivaldi's famous violin concerto tetralogy from his Opus 8, better known under the title "The Four Seasons." The birdsong in spring, scorching summer heat with thunderstorm interlude, rustic peasant dances at harvest time, or dark-dramatic winter scenes: the four three-movement concerts are probably the best-known example of Baroque program music. As often as they served as sources of inspiration for subsequent generations of composers, they have been and continue to be performed in concerts and recorded on CDs – yet every interpretation of this classic is a new discovery. So one can look forward to the version by the Musikkollegium Winterthur with its chief conductor!
