The Invisible - My Secret Life as a Superhero (UA) - Play by Helmut Köpping and Ensemble

Description

It's late, as every Tuesday. At the bus stop of line 7, three people are waiting who have met here and are now friends. Above them, a giant billboard advertises the latest superhero blockbuster. Sitting there are the teacher, who has worked too long at school again, the caregiver on the way back from his exhausting late shift, and a cleaning staff member whose shift has yet to begin. Here, in the glow of the advertisement, the three everyday heroes have time to talk: about their lives, their work, their secret superpowers, and their wishes. Equipped with fan knowledge about popular cinema superheroes, they navigate a fine line between reality and fantasy. They act out situations where they face supervillains, check capes and tights for their hero potential, sing a song against looming burnout, give tutorials with the best hacks from their professional everyday life, and see which superpower suits them best. That evening, personal stories from the professional worlds intertwine with superhero tales. Together, the three reflect on work, overstrain, societal recognition, personal strengths and weaknesses of the system, and ask themselves: what is more urgently needed in our world – superpowers or fair conditions? Inspired by great superhero myths, B-movies, and popular storytelling forms, an evening of theater is created where the real is made new through the fantastic. The boundaries between hero and everyday person blur. The stage becomes a place for great stories – about the courage to face the impossible, resilience, change, and the art of getting up again and again. A humorous, profound, and spectacular homage to all those who save our world day after day – without anyone celebrating them. Ready to meet your own superpowers?
