Accompanied by Prof. Johannes Mayer on the Schwarz Organ The experimental silent film is the most significant work of the German film director Walther Ruttmann (1887 - 1941). It documents the daily life of the metropolis Berlin in the late 1920s. At the time of these recordings, Germany had just recovered somewhat from the worst effects of the First World War, the great economic crisis was still a few years away, and Hitler was not yet a topic. Berlin was Germany's most cosmopolitan city, together with Paris and London, Berlin was the cultural center of Europe. Prof. Mayr accompanies on the equally old Schwarz Organ the image reportage projected onto a large screen about 24 hours in the life of the metropolis Berlin in 1927.
