Die Sterne - Support: Joachim Franz Büchner Duo - “Wenn es Liebe ist” Tour

Description

The new album "Wenn es Liebe ist" by Die Sterne gathers familiar indie pop moments in the typical Sterne sound, but also unexpected reinventions. In addition to German lyrics, there are English-language songs, post-punk influences, and Dyan Valdés takes the lead vocals on two tracks. Instead of sounding like the hundredth repetition, the album feels like a new beginning – fresh, pointed, humorous, and uncompromising.
The single "Ich nehme das Amt nicht an" relies on a massive riff, a driving beat, and an energy inspired by giants like Jack White or T. Rex. Singer and frontman Frank Spilker describes the song as "Riff-Rock" – a vent for the irrationality and discourse refusal that characterizes our time. The song targets the renaissance of the irrational: the loss of argument-driven debates, the departure from facts, the escalation, which has long turned into violence. Spilker formulates sharply, ironically, and at the same time alarmingly current – demonstrating once again how precisely Die Sterne translate societal developments into music. Since the early 1990s, Die Sterne have been one of the most important voices in German-language pop. With their keen sense for social observations, political wit, and poetic sharpness, they have set standards that many still measure themselves against today. "Wenn es Liebe ist" proves that Die Sterne have remained uncompromisingly relevant more than 30 years after their first records.
***
On tour as the opening act for "Die Sterne," Joachim Franz Büchner performs as a duo.
Accompanied by Hamburg native Anna Suhr (vocals and keyboards), JFB presents the double album "Music for Lovers / Sterne im Krahnstöver," to be released in January 2027: With two-part harmony singing, an analog metronome, the faithful Telecaster, synth surfaces, and pointed piano accents, the epic pop is condensed into a sometimes festive, sometimes brutally honest intimate narrative.
