A sad comedy The love weighs heavily on this country estate where an artist family spends their holidays: everywhere unfulfilled longings and existential search for meaning, regardless of age, wealth, or success. Everyone dreams of change through art or love. In the end, all that remains is a stuffed bird, forgotten somewhere on a shelf. Tschechow did not intend to evoke this: "I simply and honestly wanted to say: look at yourselves, see how poorly and boringly you lead your lives!" With 'The Glass Menagerie', Jaz Woodcock-Stewart presented her fine storytelling art in Basel. "A quiet, expressive, touching work!" justified the jury's invitation to the Berlin Theater Meeting. Now, the British director is once again dedicating herself to a classic of world literature.
