"The Vacant Houses" describe a place where young people meet. After an argument, after school, on the weekend. To talk to each other. To get out for a bit. To listen to music. Just to hang out. A shy glance. Lots of communication only through body language. Laughing together, crying, arguing, and making up.
The directors, Matthias Brücker and Frank Häusermann, are ensemble members at Theater HORA and call their project a Youth Life Piece. They ask: What dreams and goals do young people have? What concerns them? What do they do in their free time? What happens after an argument? How do they deal with rejection?
In a very natural, genuine, and direct way, they tell their dream of being young: movement, body, pop songs, effects. A space full of longing and hope is created.
