Description
Tango Nights Omar Massa, Bandoneon
Gabriel Adorján, Violin and Conducting Georges Bizet: Carmen Suite (arr. MacAlister/Reed)
George Gershwin: Lullaby
Omar Massa: Concert for Bandoneon and Chamber Orchestra among others.
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky: Andante Cantabile
Sándor Veress: Four Transylvanian Folk Dances This bandoneonist is celebrated by the international press as the "successor of Astor Piazzolla"; as someone who has elevated Tango Nuevo to a prestigious concert level without denying its original character. Omar Massa, born in Buenos Aires, brings the bandoneon back to where it is rarely heard: in the concert hall. His playing is clearly structured, rhythmically precise, and sonically differentiated – with exactly that mixture of melancholy and gentle core that makes the bandoneon so distinctive. Massa's recordings have been nominated multiple times in the categories "Composer of the Year" and "Instrumentalist of the Year", for the Opus Klassik, the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik, and the International Classical Music Awards.
On his side, the German Chamber Orchestra Berlin, an ensemble of about 15 musicians, has been inspiring with its openness since its founding in 1989. Let us look forward to a program that consistently advances tango from its tradition. Tickets: €66 / €54 / €40 / €24
