Description
Many children and adolescents often sit in the classroom during the first hours of lessons looking exhausted and are hardly receptive. The reason is not discipline but biology: During adolescence, their biological clock shifts backwards. A new study by the University of Zurich and the Zurich Children's Hospital now shows: When school starts later or more flexibly, teenagers sleep significantly more, are healthier – and also achieve better learning outcomes. What does sleep biology say about the optimal start of lessons? And what can schools, parents, and policymakers learn from this? Guest Dr. Joëlle Albrecht, Postdoctoral Researcher in Developmental Pediatrics, University Children's Hospital Zurich Leadership/Moderation Sebastian Muders, Head of the Department of Environmental and Health Ethics, Paulus Academy Participation fee (including lunch and drink) CHF 30 / CHF 20* * for members of the Paulus Academy Supporters' Association and FKSZ, with KulturLegi, AHV/IV or student ID.
