To mark the occasion, we look back on the life of the Vulva Revue, recall all the funny and exciting moments, surprise ourselves, and give the birthday girl our full attention!

Hanni Lorenz and Marie-Paulina Schendel, as hosts, pop the corks and offer guests a colorful party, where all classic birthday games like sack race, ovary run, or hot candy are played. In search of Mama's garden, memories are stirred, stories are told about men who are too interested in what is called "the female genital organ," and questions are raised about why the female orgasm is supposedly so much harder to achieve today than the male one. With ease, "The Origin of the World" shows how absurd and deeply rooted patriarchal structures shape ideas of femininity. The piece takes us on a journey from antiquity to the present, holds a mirror up to society, and invites to a special birthday celebration — sometimes sweet, sometimes sour, sometimes hard, sometimes soft, like a perfectly assembled colorful bag. After its debut in Hamburg in November 2023 at monsun. theater, the performance collective frau emma gelb now opens the new venue of the house with "The Origin of the World." The collective develops participatory formats, combines them with classical acting, and invites the audience to actively participate in the staging. Through their work, they explore central societal and human themes — like in this production, the cultural and biological origins of humanity. An in-house production by frau emma gelb, supported by monsun. theater, the Ilse and Dr. Horst Rusch Foundation, the Theaterwerkstatt Pilkentafel, the Lower Saxony Ministry for Science and Culture, and the Friedrich Weinhagen Foundation.
