Lorenzo, Caspar, and Miss Detroit are on the road in a rickety Saab. Situation: somewhere between mid-life and life fatigue. Destination: the cemeteries of Central Europe. While Lorenzo burrows through books and wants to write a doctoral thesis on dead poets, Miss Detroit dreams of becoming a cemetery botanist and talking to the dead through flowers. The nearly blind Caspar thinks of his father and his deceased pub friends. With every kilometer, the three draw closer together and hear the voices of the dead more clearly. Jaroslav Rudiš is not only a recipient of the Literature Houses Award, a railway aficionado, and a beer connoisseur, but also one of Europe's most active literary cartographers. After his major novel "Winterberg's Last Journey," first written in German and immediately nominated for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize, "Christmas in Prague" was published in 2023 in collaboration with the brilliant illustrator Jaromír 99.
