Once the last meter of film is shot – it is a remake of a low-budget science fiction thriller – they have nothing left to do but wait. The director decides to leave for Los Angeles in search of an elusive producer... This parable about filmmaking, whose screenplay was co-written by Robert Kramer, has also been interpreted as a reflection on the difficulties Wenders encountered during the production of his first film in the United States, Hammett (1982). The film won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 1982.
