Description

Claude Oscar Monet's work was influenced early on by the Norman landscape around Le Havre. His love for water – ponds, rivers, lakes, and the sea – is evident from a young age. Besides the desire to depict light, air, and atmosphere, water remained his preferred motif until the end of his life. The lecture will show which painters influenced him and why his works were crucial for the emergence of Impressionism. Selected masterpieces will trace his lively life.
