The King of Gantrisch – Family Excursion Lynx

Description

The lynx is at home in the Gantrisch Nature Park. The big cat feels especially comfortable in large forests interspersed with rocks. Its prey includes wild animals such as deer and chamois, with which it shares its large habitat. Although there are several lynxes in our region, they are very rarely observed. On the family excursion with the nature park ranger, we go on a short hike through the lynx's territory. Together, we look for tracks in the forest and snow. In a playful way, we learn more about the lynx and the wild animals and their behaviors. We discover some strategies animals use to survive the winter and how we humans can protect and support them. With a bit of luck, we might even observe wild animals. Afterwards, we head to the rest area and end the excursion with a joint barbecue by the fire. The ranger is happy to provide information about the nature park, the animals, and his work. Note: This is a family excursion. The educational content is designed for children. A specialized excursion for adults will be offered on Sunday, January 24, 2027. See link | We meet at the Thanwald barbecue site - Luftschranz, which is within sight of the Postauto stop Than in Rüeggisberg. Afterwards, we hike through the Thanwald and return at the end to the Luftschranz barbecue site near the Postauto stop Than. Carpooling can be organized via the ride pool link. Please note that a spot must be offered before it can be booked. The organization of carpooling is up to the participants. The Gantrisch Nature Park only provides the platform.

General Information

The family excursion takes you through the lynx's territory in the Gantrisch Nature Park. Participants learn playfully about the big cat and its way of life while searching for tracks in the forest. The event ends with a joint barbecue at the fire pit.
