Description
Play based on the novel by Ernest Hemingway. Director, translation, and stage adaptation: Luca Zahn
Performance: Stefan Hallmayer Santiago, an old fisherman from Cuba, has not caught a fish for 84 days and is on the verge of despair – but he does not give up. With iron determination, he embarks on a final great adventure to catch a giant Marlin. What follows is an unending, days-long struggle between humans and nature. Amidst the vastness of the ocean, Santiago fights not only against the fish but also against his physical limits and the loneliness of his life. His story is more than an adventure – it is a confrontation with endurance, hope, and the desire to achieve something in a often relentless world.
Luca Zahn and Stefan Hallmayer examine the literary classic The Old Man and the Sea for the unwavering will of humans to challenge nature and prove themselves. At the same time, Stefan Hallmayer bids farewell to the stage with this production.
