“Hýlom, hýlom! Listen, upper, lower... Dear queen, the king calls you... A falcon has flown out...”
This calling and singing can still be heard today during the Pentecost celebrations in many villages in Moravia, Silesia, and Bohemia, where ancient king rides, queen processions, and traditional king games come to life.
What secrets do these mysterious rituals hold, whose roots reach back to the pagan years? They carry the mystery of the intertwining of opposites and governing principles found in nature, in the human soul, and in community. Do they perhaps reflect the magical connection of nature's forces with the human desire to awaken the generative power of Mother Earth?
