As soon as children come together in groups, bullying is a common phenomenon. When a child is bullied, it is an enormously stressful situation for parents. The natural impulse to want to protect one's own child immediately is understandable – however, hasty actions can often make the situation worse. In our parent education course on the topic of cyberbullying, we teach how parents can respond effectively and supportively.

Bullying has many facets and can affect any child. It often arises where children come together in groups – at school, in clubs, or online. Especially on the internet, rumors, insulting comments, or false statements spread rapidly. Therefore, it is important to recognize signs early and respond appropriately.

Even if many affected children do not talk about their situation, parents learn how to recognize warning signs and approach their child empathetically.

Participants also receive practical advice on how to break the dynamics of bullying, where to find support, and how to strengthen their child – both online and offline.

The course is aimed at parents who want to understand what lies behind cyberbullying and who are looking for tools to competently and safely support their children.

Course leader: Christiane Willemeit, media literacy specialist / psychologist in training.

This event is for parents of children/adolescents between 6 and 16 years old.

Organization: Frauenzentrale Zug in cooperation with the Office for Sports and Health Promotion, Pro Juventute, and the Zug Library.

This event is supported by the Canton of Zug and is part of the "Hey Zug" campaign.
