PROGRAMMEF. Poulenc - L'Histoire de Babar, le petit éléphant ‍ Babar's journey is unmistakable; he is a character who experiences separation, exile, and learning until his triumphant return. The actor, in the radiant persona of Robert Sandoz, and the instruments share the narrative as one shares an adventure, a game, or a tale. We recall the little elephant, the great forest, the loss of his mother, then the city, an old lady, a kingdom… and of course… a green suit! ‍ BIOGRAPHYROBERT SANDOZ • DIRECTOR, YOUNG Born in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Robert Sandoz studied French, history, and philosophy before turning to theater on the advice of Francy Shori and Charles Joris. He trained with masters such as Olivier Py, Hervé Loichemol, and Jean Liermier. It was Fabrice Melquiot who encouraged him to write his own plays, having previously focused on adapting novels, comics, and films. A discreet jack-of-all-trades, he has also made a name for himself in classical music by creating several operas, at the invitation of the Jardins Musicaux and the Grand Théâtre de Genève. These achievements earned him nominations in the categories of “Revelation” and “Rediscovery of a Work” at the 2013 Opera Awards. He has been directing the Théâtre du Passage in Neuchâtel since January 2025. Outside of the stage, he rides around the city on his bike, serving as the family taxi.
