Description
The February concert is dedicated to the choral, which remains an essential component of worship today. At its core is the strophic song, which has shaped church music through the centuries. In addition to the diversity of song forms from medieval and Reformation traditions, 19th and 20th-century chorals also resonate. Their catchy and expressive melodies have inspired composers from all eras. Thus, many adaptations and variations have emerged, giving new sound colors to familiar chorals and transforming them into autonomous concert works. Notably, "All Morgen ist ganz frisch und neu" in an adaptation by Armin Müller-Arnold, "Hilf, Herr meines Lebens" in an adaptation by Eberhard Rink, and "In dir ist Freude" in an adaptation by Dieter Falk can be heard. These compositions combine traditional choral melodies with modern harmony and contemporary musical language, opening new perspectives on the known repertoire. The program is complemented by spiritual works by Klaus Heizmann, which establish a connection with the present and enrich the concert program. May the chosen chorals and organ pieces bring joy, comfort, and hope. Elena Bürkli, organ and voice
