From America to Wisen, from jazz to rowing. An exhibition of documentary and staged photography by Christian Gerber in collaboration with the Archiv Olten association. Spread over four floors, the exhibition provides insight into the diverse work of the photographer. At the center is a multi-year journey through North, Central, and South America, which Christian Gerber embarked on as a young hitchhiker in the late 1960s. Still an amateur, Gerber photographed what he encountered. In black and white and color, he captured people, places, and situations from his journey. The extensive series is presented for the first time over two floors in the exhibition and re-examined from today's perspective. From these early shots, the exhibition continues to Gerber's jazz photography and finally to staged artistic works. The project is curated by Florian Amoser, in close collaboration with Christian Gerber.
