CHLÖISU - Reality is not everything. The journey into the depths of the human psyche of Bernese musician Chlöisu Friedli and his album «Wohäre geisch?» addresses suicidal tendencies. In Marco Michels' new solo evening, Friedli's tumultuous life is brought to the stage. The piece is based on extensive research and numerous interviews with Friedli's relatives and companions. But the evening goes beyond mere biography and floats between the constructs of "reality" and "fantasy." Like Friedli, the audience occasionally loses their footing and must find new support. Because reality is less reliable than it seems – and fantasy is a central component of its creation. There are these originals, who shape the image of cities and scenes – Chlöisu Friedli (1949–1981) was one of them. The pianist introduced Bernese German to the blues in the 1970s and was perhaps the only real blues musician Switzerland has ever seen. Besides his pronounced zest for life and passion for music, his life was also repeatedly marked by crises and long hospital stays, during or because of which he developed his own unmistakable musical style. It is the story of a tightrope walker, gradually pushed to the edge – until he took the train where there was no station, thus ending his life early. Participants: Marco Michel
