ChiassoLetteraria celebrates its twenty-first edition, thus confirming its status as a must-attend event in the cantonal and Swiss cultural landscape. This international literature festival, organized by the same-named association with the support of the Chiasso municipality, the canton of Ticino, Pro Helvetia, and several other partners, takes place at the Espace Officina, the Cinema Teatro, and various venues around the border town, such as pubs, galleries, and gardens. For a few days, Chiasso and the festival sites transform into a flipping book. This twenty-first edition, scheduled from May 12 to 16, 2027, will, as usual, focus on themes connecting literature to major contemporary issues. In a constantly changing world, shaped by disruptive geopolitical, socio-economic, and climate dynamics, the festival questions the ability of communities and individuals to shape their own destiny: is it still possible for individuals—both individually and collectively—to take control of their future? What role can literature still play in a world in full transformation? How can literature help us build a better world and become better people? Are there still books capable of transforming our lives? The 2027 edition program promises to be rich in encounters with renowned Swiss and international authors, poets, artists, musicians, and essayists. These meetings will be conducted in their original language, with simultaneous translation into Italian. Many parallel events will be offered: readings, concerts, exhibitions, screenings, performances, DJ sets, and much more. A festival designed for people, working passionately and committedly to weave connections among them.
