Description

Check-in is a term used in connection with various workshops or group activities. It refers to a brief introductory moment of a shared meeting, where the group of individuals pauses and each shares what they bring to the shared space – their feelings, expectations, or previous experiences. It is also a moment to turn attention to how we are feeling and what we are experiencing. The skill of check-in can be useful not only for the group but also for individuals, for example, in challenging or conflictual situations. This simple ritual helps participants tune into the present moment and the processes that are yet to unfold in the group. It creates space for mutual perception, sharing, and the gradual formation of relationships. Individuals enter this moment into the shared space – a space that requires a certain shift in perspective… The dance performance Check-in is inspired by this very process – the process that the dance company check. in began a few months ago in their joint work in the dance hall. Through movement, it explores the relationship between individual experiences and the dynamics of the group during check-in.
