Rainer Beutin has never been interested in trends. From the very beginning, he has always done his own thing. His thing – which was initially the blues over 40 years ago. Over time, he has significantly expanded his musical spectrum. Together with his alter ego, the rough, honest, direct, and heartfelt Charly Schreckschuss, he has been actively involved in the German-speaking rock music scene for almost half a century. Nearly 50 years – that should be enough, one might think. He thought so a year or two ago as well and embarked on a farewell tour through northern German clubs. But then something happened to him. He doesn't quite remember what it was. The response to the live concerts was overwhelmingly positive. His band in top form. Really stopping? Not yet, too early. There is still power, energy, and a fire burning. It must go on. And then things happen around him, in Germany, in the world. Beutin aka Schreckschuss has never hidden his conviction. Standing for him was a matter of course. Always has been. The rise of the AfD in Germany is one of those topics that no longer let him sleep peacefully. Then there's this man with the red tie and the storm hairstyle in the White House. He visits Beutin in his nightmares. In his house in Denmark, he can see how the sea level rises. This and many other topics drive him and fuel his creativity. And then there's a certain Detlef Petersen, a North Frisian of his age, who has a name in the music scene. He once founded the band Lake, which was one of the most successful German bands in the USA in its early years. It is said that Petersen is working on a revival of Lake. The two often sit together over a good red wine and discuss the state of the world. When Beutin told him two years ago that he was thinking of quitting, Petersen said, “You won't get rid of me that easily. We're making another album.” That album is now almost finished, the songs are recorded with the excellent musicians of his band in a studio in Hamburg. New songs that deal with the state of the world, current topics, hot spots of current events, have been processed by Beutin in these new songs.
