Charlotte Pelgen is a singer and ukulele player who has long established herself on stages and especially in the international ukulele scene with swing from the 1920s and 30s. Now she presents her own songs! They are poetic, personal stories – sometimes cheeky, sometimes contemplative – carried by the rhythms and harmonies of the early 20th century, infused with subtle humor and the depth of chanson, and shaped by melodies of European folk. What ukulele still sometimes faces in terms of prejudice, dissolves effortlessly in Charlotte's playing: her bright soprano and her large, velvety-sounding baritone ukulele prove to be versatile, fine instruments that deliver the perfect tone color for her songs.
