Charles Blanc-Gatti. The Colors of Sound

Description

Charles Blanc-Gatti (Lausanne, 1890–Riex, 1966) felt drawn to both music and visual art since his childhood. Additionally, he was gifted with a "chromatic and geometric synesthesia": when hearing sounds, he saw colors and shapes before his inner eye. As an amateur violinist and self-taught painter, he did not pursue academic training. Blanc-Gatti proposed various ideas to establish connections between sounds and colors: pictorial representations, dynamic light staging, animation films.
