The world-renowned quartet Cello Republic will perform on Sunday, October 4, 2026, in Svitavy. Cello Republic is a group composed of four cellists who, after studying at leading global universities, realized that something was missing in their previous performances on large stages: humor. Despite their completely different characters and worldviews, two concertmasters of the Czech Philharmonic, a 'crossover star,' and a conservatory professor came together with the aim of presenting music as something current, alive, and essential, almost like the air we breathe. They discard the safe seriousness of institutions and erase the boundary between the stage and the audience. They come with a concert concept subtitled 'no limits,' where they erase the existing boundaries of the technical possibilities of the cello, complemented by a 'stand-up comedy show,' where on one hand they explain and comment on the music, and on the other, they relate it to human stories and anecdotes from everyday life. Their concerts are therefore accessible to both the general public and passionate listeners/specialists of classical music. In the Czech Republic and around the world, this quartet has become known for their excellent musical arrangements of a wide range of music genres, music videos, and a trio of recorded CDs. On their latest CD FREEDOM 2022, 100PROmotion, they reflect on more than ten years of playing together while hinting at the direction of their future endeavors.
