Sometimes it doesn't take much: a piano, electronic sounds, a bit of time – and open ears. Catherine Tang invites you into such an in-between space with her solo project. The pianist and composer moves between jazz, contemporary music, classical, and ambient, developing a very personal sound language. Melodies emerge, dissolve again, are surrounded by electronic textures or stretched into the distance. Her piano is not just an instrument but the starting point for a whole small universe of sound, resonance, and silence. Tang's music can be intimate and fragile, then again surprisingly vast and intense. A concert to dive into – and perhaps to temporarily forget that you actually wanted to be somewhere else.
