Carmina Burana by Carl Orff

Description

This special performance offers a rare and intimate version of one of the most iconic works of the 20th century, interpreted by the renowned Sinfonietta Bern ensemble under the musical direction of pianist and conductor Igor Andreev, with a choir assembled in collaboration with Creator Classics, an opera collective based in Vienna. As a bold, immediately impactful cantata based on texts from the 13th century — partly pagan, partly sacred, partly scandalous — Carmina Burana speaks of the eternal cycles of happiness, desire, love, and loss. Composed in 1935–1936 and based on 24 poems from the medieval Codex Buranus, Orff's explosive choral music transformed these ancient verses into one of the most famous works of the 20th century, beginning with the mighty O Fortuna, a hymn to the cruelty and unpredictability of fate. Newly adapted from the original manuscripts and arranged for an intimate chamber music setting with choir, the program offers a bold and emotionally charged experience that reveals the inner intensity of Orff's vision. The concert is organized by the creative agency RED EVENTS & Distribution Ltd., which specializes in extraordinary cultural experiences — whether in historic manor houses, on rooftops, in greenhouses, or other atmospheric locations in Switzerland, Europe, Great Britain, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and beyond. The repertoire also includes atmospheric candlelight concerts and multisensory sound and video installations.
