Carichiamo la graa

Description

For the 29th consecutive year, the Ethnographic Museum of the Muggio Valley and the Friends of Graa are organizing the traditional delivery of chestnuts, loaded onto the Graa di Cabbio. To continue this beautiful local tradition, we invite all interested individuals to contribute by delivering chestnuts to the graa (at the southern edge of the village, near the cemetery). After the delivery, the graa will be loaded and lit: the drying will last at least three weeks. At the end of the process, after the threshing, everyone can collect their dried chestnuts! Delivery Instructions Only healthy chestnuts will be accepted: beautiful, clean, dry, shiny, free of mold, and not stored in plastic bags. The organizers reserve the right to refuse those that do not meet the required criteria. As they lose a lot of weight during drying, we encourage you to deliver at least two or three dried chestnuts. If they are harvested early, do not freeze them or soak them in water, but store them in open boxes, in a dry and well-ventilated place, turning them occasionally. Information about the traditional threshing will be published later. To visit the graa in operation or for further details, please contact the museum.
