It is not surprising that, according to a 2024 Allensbach study, disputes occur in about every seventh inheritance case. The relationship with siblings is probably one of the most formative - and it often accompanies us longer than the relationship with parents. This is what "Brothers" tells, the new piece from "OFF-Theater KUK: Konstanz - Kreuzlingen". After the death of the parents, two brothers meet again after a long time. On the kitchen table stand two urns. Blue for mom. Gray for dad. The siblings have survived the funeral without conflict. Just so. Much has to be decided. Already, what will happen with the inheritance. Conflicts break out. Memories are awakened. They stumble upon a family secret that sheds new light on many things - and then there is always music, the memory motor and soundtrack of the family. Warm-hearted, yet also with biting humor, "Brothers" tells how the two siblings struggle around themselves and their image of the family. Andre Rohde, Tomasz Robak play the quarrelsome brothers in the piece by András Budavari. Jonathan Chazan composes and performs the music. Introductions before the performances, open rehearsals, and a workshop with students make the project a participatory and discursive theater experience.
