Description
Billy Cobham is one of the most influential drummers in modern music history. As a founding member of the legendary Mahavishnu Orchestra, a companion of Miles Davis, and the creator of the groundbreaking album Spectrum, the Panamanian-born and New York-raised musician has significantly shaped jazz-rock and fusion music. His career reads like a piece of music history: Cobham has played and worked with giants like John McLaughlin, Miles Davis, George Benson, Carlos Santana, George Duke, and John Scofield. With his 1973 debut solo album Spectrum, he set a milestone in jazz fusion—a record whose virtuosic blend of jazz, rock, funk, and electronic sounds continues to influence today. But Billy Cobham does not only look back. He sees his current music as a reflection of an extraordinary journey through Europe and North, Central, and South America. The encounters and experiences from more than five decades form the foundation for a music that evolves with each concert. Together with outstanding musicians, Cobham brings this musical journey to the stage: Bjorn Arko (Woodwinds), Gary Husband (Keyboards), Rocco Zifarelli (Guitar), Antonio Baldino (Trumpet/Flugelhorn), Andrea Andreoli (Trombone), and Victor Cisternas (Bass). The audience can expect an evening of jazz, rock, funk, and fusion—characterized by complex rhythms, virtuosic interplay, and the unmistakable energy of a musician who has been a defining figure in his genre for decades.
