What do a chief of the armed forces, a former president of the National Council, and ZEIT podcasters have in common?
They’re all taking part in a discussion on the future and hope at the “Bibel-Genuss-Tage” in Flims. Corps Commander Benedikt Roos (Chief of the Army) speaks with Eric Nussbaumer (former President of the National Council) about peace. The “Pastor’s Daughters” podcasters Johanna Haberer (theologian and journalist) and Sabine Rückert (editor at ZEIT Verbrechen) will discuss dissidents in the Bible, and many other figures from theology, politics, society, and satire will also participate. Under the motto from Jeremiah 29:11, “... that I may give you a future and a hope,” the Bible Enjoyment Days combine theology, music, cuisine, and fellowship. In light of the global political situation, pressing social issues, the climate crisis, and personal circumstances, the question this year is clear: what can give us—as humanity, as a nation, and on a deeply personal level—a future and hope? Together with Marie-Ursula Kind and Stefan Waespi from the International Criminal Court, host Arthur Honegger looks back at the past in a conversation about guilt, justice, and coming to terms with the most serious war crimes and human rights violations. Peter Düggel talks with former elite soldier Guido Suter about what gives him hope today and for the future. A joyful sense of community can be found in the joint singing of Advent carols led by choir director Michael Berndonner, accompanied by the organ and string quartet of “le phénix.” Over the course of several days, the biblical message comes to life—through conversations, concerts, church services, readings, and culinary experiences.
