Since early October 2025, a special exhibition at the Kunsthaus Zürich collection welcomes visitors: "Touching the Essential. Wolfgang Laib and the Collection of Kunsthaus Zürich." Organized as part of the "ReCollect" exhibition series, it brings together works by the renowned German artist Wolfgang Laib (born 1950) with significant collection pieces from the Kunsthaus, spanning from the Middle Ages to the late 20th century. Included are also precious Asian works, including a major piece from the Museum Rietberg, Zürich. On October 2, 2026, Wolfgang Laib will discuss with collection curator Philippe Büttner, who prepared and curated the exhibition with him. Topics include the exhibition itself, Laib's career, the nature of his art, and his relationship with Kunsthaus and its curator Harald Szeemann, who was crucial in his development as an artist. The event also serves as a farewell event for the long-standing collection conservator and senior curator Philippe Büttner, who has been with the collection since early 2025 and will retire at the end of October. The exhibition ends on October 4, 2026. -- Important information:
Admission to the Artist Talk is included in the valid collection ticket. There will be no evening box office on site at Kunsthaus.
