Description

Geology in the classroom? Of course! But can I do it? Absolutely! This afternoon, we will work on the basics so that you can confidently, motivatingly, and action-orientedly integrate topics around geology, tectonics, and Alpine formation into your own teaching with your class. The teaching material "Mountains Tell Stories" serves as a tool, the extracurricular learning location "Mysterious City Stones" in Glarus enables learning directly at the place of the event, practical exercises make the content tangible, and background information on geology, education for sustainable development, and the Sardona World Heritage region places it in a larger context. The course combines short theoretical inputs (introduction to the teaching material, imparting geological background knowledge, overview of offers for schools) with practical exercises (description of rocks based on their characteristics) as well as the exploration of individual stations of the photo course (extracurricular learning location City of Glarus) in groups and the visit to the visitor center of the Sardona World Heritage.
