Seems like 'an interesting bird', this Udo-Gerhard.» (Udo Lindenberg) For Udo Lindenberg's 80th birthday in May 2026, Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre published the book Udo Fröhliche. The close examination of the exceptional artist Lindenberg by his dedicated superfan and longtime good friend Stuckrad-Barre became a literary event and bestseller. The book, equally celebrated by audiences and critics, entered the SPIEGEL bestseller list at number 2, where it remained for many weeks. In the 59 biographical short stories of "Udo Fröhliche," a lively picture of this folk singer in the best sense, who has changed the Federal Republic, its society, language, and thus also the way of thinking, emerges. At the same time, this book tells, based on Lindenberg's insights and originality, about being a fan, about 80 years of the Federal Republic, about art and life as an artist – from alcohol to cello and wanderlust, roller skates, language, hotel and hat to cigars. Starting in autumn, Stuckrad-Barre will go on a major tour with Udo Fröhliche. And anyone who has ever attended a Stuckrad-Barre reading knows, of course, that on these evenings, a book is not just read aloud but celebrated. Stuckrad-Barre interprets his text, plays, improvises, sings – and sometimes also reads. Since his autobiographical novel Panikherz (published in 2016), the audience of Stuckiman (Lindenberg's nickname for Stuckrad-Barre, which he even has certified as a stage name in his ID) knows and loves his always loving and never parodic way of presenting Lindenberg quotes, so Udo will be vocally present in the room every evening of this reading tour: gentle and wise, always a little different, otherwise it wouldn't be Udo.
