On November 12, 1966, the first beavers were released in the then municipal community of Scherzingen in Eastern Switzerland. A pioneering project in which Wolf-Dieter Burkhard himself was involved. In his richly illustrated lecture, he reports firsthand on the challenges and successes of the reintroduction of these fascinating animals. A special focus is on their way of life and their contribution to biodiversity.
