Cantabile Works by Shostakovich, Mozart, Tchaikovsky Susanne Mathé, violin / Hyunjong Reents-Kang, violin / Teodor Dimitrov, viola / Alexandre Foster, cello One of its models was Mozart's String Quartet KV 589, which was created shortly before his death. The cello solos in it sound like tenor arias and at that time delighted not only the king. The "Two Pieces for String Quartet" composed by Shostakovich, on the other hand, are rarely heard. The first piece, the Elegy, is a delicate transcription of Katerina Ismailowa's aria from "Lady Macbeth of Mzensk." The second piece is a string arrangement of the polka from "The Golden Age." Tchaikovsky's third string quartet is a work of emotional depths. He wrote it in memory of his friend and violinist Ferdinand Laub. With designations such as funebre and doloroso as well as allusions to the requiem of the Russian Orthodox Church, it carries the character of a funeral song. Free organ walk - Interested parties visit all four organs in the monastery church and are treated to sound bites. The walk begins at 2:30 p.m. at the main entrance of the church and lasts about an hour. Registration is not required.
